Review: Name of book should be “full of lies”. Since operation blue star defines his legacy, gen Brar has to live with this, He chose to write a book full of lies. Thousands of innocent pilgrims, children, elderly, who had gathered to celebrate gurpurabh were killed, tortured. They choose to punish Sikhs on most holy Sikh day at the most holy Sikh shrine ! Tanks were already outside at beginning of assault to fire at its own people. There was total blackout of all communications /media in state of Punjab for a week.It’s Govt/military’s job to avoid collateral damage and they caused total collateral damage, so many civilian casualties.Punjab fell into turmoil after operation bluestar.there are eyewitnesses /janitor staff (who picked up thousands of dead bodies next day) if somebody bothers to do the search. Eyewitnesses explain the horror stories, how innocent pilgrims/children/elderly were shot after being captured by army. Army was letting pilgrims go in and was blocking them from coming out, there were no announcements for pilgrims to vacate golden temple before army assault began. Suddenly pilgrims were caught under fire from army without any warning. Ensaaf.org has interviewed a few eyewitnesses, I encourage people to watch the eyewitness account.Tragedy is that there is no free media, nobody bothers to look for truth, just believe what government controlled Media told people in 1984.

Review: Being a Sikh myself, I purchased this book to get a different perspective on the Operation. I must say that it is well written but sometimes the author (who himself led the operation) makes superfluous claims about the circumstances existing at that time. I think the content could have been more and the author could have put some more mental imagery and thoughts into writing rather than only describing the sequence of events. Highlight was some of the pictures which are in the book and I had never seen before.Good read; Some rare unseen photographs; A different perspective.

Review: "Until Lions Have Their Historians, Tales Of The Hunt Shall Always Glorify The Hunter "I did lot of search on Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale and operation Blue Star and reading this book was part of this search. Fact is that ever since India got independence injustice was done with Sikhs in many aspects. Everyone knows that 80% of contribution towards freedom struggle was from Sikhs but till date Indian state does not likes Sikhs. Biggest mistakes of Sikh leaders (Master Tara Singh , Fateh Singh etc.) is that when India got independence they did not raised their demand for Khalistan , the way Pakistan was created as separate nation for Muslims.After long time Sikhs had strong leader Sant Jarnail who could foresee the injustice done with Sikhs and he motivated Sikhs to fight for justice and their rights. You could still listen to his speeches and interviews on youtube and then decide if he was right on his stand or not.Gen Brar’s book is very biased . For example he mentioned about Nirankari incidence in April 13th 1978. One should know that how that Nirankari Gurbachana was hurting Sikh sentiments by disrespecting Sikh Gurus and Guru Granth Shaib. Another mention of Lala Jagat Narayan, who used to publish so many articles against Sikhs. No action was taken by government and in turn those people had government support. One should read about Gen Shabeg Singh who served his whole life for Indian army and what he got in return. Reason behind that he was Sikh and government didn’t like Sikhs. If Brar claims his book to be based on true facts why he did not mention about support of British government which is open secret after wikileaks. Also military had support from Russia too. Fact is that way Sant Jarnail Singh and his followers fought the battle against Indian state is remarkable. It can be compared to the battle of Chamkur Shaib where few Sikhs give tough fight to Mugals and fought against evil. Brar mentioned in his book about Capt. Jasvir Singh Rania who being Sikh was one the first to go and fight against Bhindrawale and he got Vir Chakar. If Brar is not biased how come he did not mention in his book that same Capt Jasvir Singh Rania latter realized that he was wrong. One can do research on him. Rania after realizing his mistake never wore his medal and went to Golden Temple so many times so that God could forgive his mistakes.Even if we assume that Sant Jarnail Singh was wrong and Brar is not biased how come he did not mention how Sikh youths were torched and were given inhumane treatment from 70’s till end of 2000. What is his justification Sikh Genocide that happen in 1984. Why during Blue Star other 65 other Gurudawar’s were attacked by Indian military. Was Bindrawale in those Gurudawar’s too. Why human rights activist Bhai Jaswant Sigh Khalra was killed by police and killed in fake encounters.

Review: Lt.Gen. Kuldeep Brar accomplished the most thankless assignment in the history in modern India. The Indian army was never proud of Operation Bluestar and Lt.Gen. Brar, being a Sikh himself hated the fact that army was ordered to fight it's own people. Most experts were critical of the army action but was there any other option left in dealing with the menace posed by Bhindranwale. Why was Bhindrenwale allowed to occupy and live in the Akal Takht along with his fanatic followers with automatic weapons, grenades etc. The holiest shrine was turned into a military bunker and none of the head priests or supporters came out against this desecration. Even a country like Saudi Arabia in 1979 used military force during the bloody two week seige of the Grand Mosque in Mecca against its armed Islamic dissidents.This book is an eye opener to all the exagerated accounts and rumouring that came out after the operation. This book has to be evaluated pragmatically though its hard no not dwell on this incident without emotion. The whole Punjab militancy problem that was a creation of an incompetant, corrupt and indecisive government & civil administration; Lt.Gen. Brar and the Indian army soldiers who gave up their lives only performed their duty towards the nation. By rejecting militancy and seperatists ideals emanating from a few Sikhs in western countries, the Sikhs of India have redeemed themselves as the most patriotic and progressive communty.
