Warri Wolves FC Threaten Boycott Over Unpaid Salaries


Warri Wolves FC players are contemplating boycotting the season opener for the 2023/24 season due to lingering issues with unpaid salaries and allowances. One player, speaking on condition of anonymity, voiced their frustrations and financial hardships, urging Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for support. The player emphasized the pressing need for their salaries to be settled, saying, "You can imagine since we resumed for the season since August to date we have not been paid, some of us have family and are breadwinners, and considering the economic downturn, how do the management expect us to survive?"

In response to the players' concerns, club management, under the leadership of Mr. Neville and the Delta state sports commission were unreachable to comment on the issue.

The new NNL season commences on 11th November 2023 and

the seasiders, as they are affectionately called, are set to compete in the challenging Southern Conference B, facing formidable opponents including Osun United FC, Giant Brilla FC, FC One Rocket FC, Gateway FC, Ijebu United FC, and Trafe Safe FC when the new NNL season resumes.

Wolves first game of the NNL season will be a home game at the Kwale Township Stadium against visiting International lagos FC on the 15th of November, 2023 by 4pm Local time.
