In a significant move for the reorganization of Calabar Rovers FC, Mr. Jimmy Okotu, a former Assistant Secretary of the club, was appointed as the new Secretary on October 23, 2023.

His primary role is to oversee all administrative aspects of the club and provide monthly comprehensive reports on club activities to the Ministry of Sports Development and the Cross River State Sports Commission.

Mr. Okotu, hailing from Bunyia Irruan in Boki local government area of Cross River State, holds a B.Sc. in Human Kinetics and Health Education from the University of Calabar. With extensive experience in both national and international football, he has played for various clubs, including Calabar Rovers, Jasper United Football Club in Onitsha, Julius Berger Football Club in Lagos, Anambra United Football Club in Onitsha, and Domiatt Football Club in Egypt.

Mr. Okotu's aspiration is to work alongside other skilled team members to elevate the club's status from the Nigeria National League (NNL) to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Jimmy Okotu's achievements in the world of football are noteworthy.

He guided Rovers Football Club of Calabar to the semi-finals of the National Challenge Cup in 2018 (now known as the Aiteo Cup) after a 32-year gap as the team manager.

His role as the organizing secretary for Paragon Football Academy (Yusfon Cross River State) led to their victory in Abuja, clinching a gold medal among 32 states in 2020. Additionally, he helped Leopard FC Amateur 2 attain promotion to Amateur 1 while serving as the team manager in Calabar Municipality.

His involvement in swimming also saw him secure six medals (3 silver and 3 bronze) at the National Sports Festival in Edo 2020 while acting as the secretary.

Mr. Jimmy Okotu expresses gratitude for his new appointment, dedicating it to God Almighty, and seeks wisdom and understanding to fulfill his duties.

He extends his thanks to Hon. Agnes Atsu, the Honorable Commissioner of Development, Mr. Moses Ita Agbor, the Director of Sports at the Cross River State Sports Commission, and the entire Sports Ministry and Sports Commission team for their support.
