India produced a dominant all-round performance to storm into the Asian Games 2026 men's cricket final, defeating Sri Lanka by 124 runs in the second semi-final at Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin. Ishan Kishan starred with a brilliant unbeaten 80, while India's bowlers dismantled the Sri Lankan batting lineup to secure a comprehensive victory.

The result means India will face Pakistan in the gold medal match, while Sri Lanka will meet Bangladesh in the Asian Games cricket bronze medal match.

Ishan Kishan Leads India to 169/7

After Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to field, India made a challenging 169/7 in their 20 overs. The hosts were in trouble early after losing Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson cheaply, but 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi provided attacking intent with a quick 38 off 21 deliveries.

With wickets falling at regular intervals, the responsibility fell on Ishan Kishan to control the innings. The left-handed batter responded brilliantly, remaining unbeaten on 80 from 46 balls.

Kishan's innings included four fours and five sixes, giving India the late acceleration they needed. He also combined effectively with Washington Sundar in the final over as India added 18 runs to reach 169/7.

Axar Patel continued India's assault by claiming two wickets in the fourth over. Sri Lanka slipped to 18/5, with the Indian bowling attack and sharp fielding preventing the batters from establishing partnerships.

Nuwanidu Fernando was the only Sri Lankan batter to offer some resistance, scoring 15 before being run out. Washington Sundar and Abhishek Sharma then completed the job as the innings collapsed further.
