Do you suppose any of this has anything to do directly with TV?

Has this marvelous invention, the product of man's creativity,

also been an instrument that has caused such disunity?

Has man's technology become responsible for the disharmony

we see so prevalently in our society?

Certainly this cannot really be!

Or, can it? Tell me, what is it you see,

whenever you're not watching TV?

Or is it, that you have never really taken time to see --

for yourself -- the things outside of TV.

How much time do you spend with an occasional friend?

Or is your time, all that you have free, taken up by the TV?

What do you know, of love, of life, of reality,

that has not been shaped by your TV?

Are your views really your own,

or are you just someone else's clone?

Splitting out verbatim, for all the world to see,

that which you have learned from watching TV?

There are those who want you to be,

exactly like those on TV,

who take their cue, and read their lines,

as if they had no minds!

Such has been the change in our times.

Gone are the days when a man might be, anything he wanted to be.

Nowadays a man styles his hair,

which is much longer than his lady's fair.

Puts a ring in his ear and takes his place, to the rear.

No more is a man free to be really masculine, for you see,

he must be, as he sees on TV,

his role becoming subservient to 'she'.

How different it is from days of old,

when men were brave and very bold.

Where strength and courage did he take hold.

For this man of old, this real American male,

knew himself and knew himself well,

And to another he would not bow,

But in his own hands he took life,

his home, his family and his wife.

And with brain, as well as brawn,

he took on life and the wilderness beyond.

He carved out of the rough and rugged land

an empire unmatched by any other land.

And now they say, of the land, he did rape and pillage,

when in fact, he built a village.

And out of that humble beginning,

the greatest nation on earth had its beginning.
