The wildebeest, also known as the gnu, is one of the most recognizable animals of the African savannah. Physical Characteristics

Both male and female wildebeests have curved horns, although males typically have thicker and more robust ones. Their coat is usually grayish-brown, with darker vertical stripes on their shoulders and flanks.

Wildebeests are highly social animals, often seen in large herds that can range from dozens to thousands. These herds are not only a defense mechanism against predators but also play a key role in finding food and water. During the calving season, usually timed with the rainy season, hundreds of thousands of calves are born within a few weeks, overwhelming predators and increasing the young ones' chances of survival.
Males are territorial during the breeding season and will compete for mating rights with females, using their horns in displays of dominance and combat.
