Her Excellency, Bishop Dr. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, has been recognized by the UN 1000 African Women Network in New York and inducted as an automatic member. Representing her at this prestigious event was the Honorable Commissioner for Social Welfare and Community Development, Archbishop Prof. Margaret Ene-Ita, who was joined by Associate Professor Esther Archibong, Special Adviser to the Governor on National Social Investment Programmes. Both were also honored with awards and inducted into the network.

Bishop Dr. Otu’s exceptional contributions to humanitarian and social causes have made a global impact, particularly in addressing poverty, health challenges, gender-based violence, and the marginalization of women and girls in politics. Through her NGO, Humanity Without Borders, and her social group, Team Mma Adiaha, she has led more than 5,000 impactful initiatives, such as:

- Provision of mother and child delivery kits

- Back-to-school initiatives

- Awarding scholarships to students

- Development of STEM curricula

- Donation of crutches and wheelchairs to persons living with disabilities

- Combating child trafficking

- Promoting women’s political participation

- Public-private partnerships in aquaculture and livestock

- Agricultural empowerment programs for women

- Financial support for persons living with disabilities

- Free medical outreaches, including surgeries, consultations, and eye/dental care

- Distribution of medical and laboratory equipment

- Relief material distribution for the underprivileged

- Facilitation of Solemn Assembly in the state

- Promotion of women in sports

- Support for senior citizens and orphanages

Her Excellency's steadfast dedication to empowering women, especially in agriculture and economic development, was highlighted at the 69th UN Convention on the Status of Women and Girls. She has been celebrated as the "Essence of Life" and the "Humanity Champion" of Cross River State.

A beacon of strength, selflessness, and leadership, Bishop Dr. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu stands as a true pillar of the People-First governance approach. Her unwavering leadership inspires many to follow her path, led by honor, integrity, and a deep commitment to service.
