Recently, I have been asking myself what is the cause /reason of all these persistent struggles, greed and unnecessary competition and destruction of each other in this world so much so that , brothers or neighbors are ready to go through anything and at any length possible, not to build each other but just to see to it that they bring themselves down. I am still preoccupied with this, and I am yet to find any conclusive answer, so if you know the reason, please fill me in.

Then one afternoon, I was by my TV set watching Adam and Eve cartoon, then suddenly the voice of God came through the set “Do not eat the fruit from the tree of Good and Evil”. and this brought me different meanings of this statement I have heard over and over again since my infancy.

So ! the question is , even today, are we still defying God and continue eating the fruit from the tree of Good and Evil? Oh! Please I am not talking about the so-called forbidden fruit Apple.

I have always maintained In many of my previous write-ups that, there is nothing Good or Evil in this World since all are God's Creations and His handy works. God is the source of all things and everything dwell in Him and in Him alone.

But whatever we call Good or Evil is the Thought of the receiver. It is the description of the experience of the moment and our perception of whatever has happened. For whatever we call bad today, someone else may call it Good because it favours him/her.

If this stands as true, then God’s warning not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil can be explained as “LET NO MAN, thinking he knows more than Me God, CALL ANY OF MY CREATION GOOD OR EVIL” this is the meaning that dropped into my spirit that faithful afternoon.

An extract from an Ancient Chinese Text “Tao Te Ching” 506BCE explains this better.

When people see some things as beautiful, other things become ugly.

When people see some things as good,

other things become bad.

Being and non-being create each other.

Difficult and easy support each other.

Long and short define each other.

High and low depend on each other.

Before and after follow each other.

If you overesteem (overrate) great men,

people become powerless.

If you overvalue possessions,

people begin to steal.

This means, anytime you look at any situation, moment, person and things and you pass judgment based on your knowledge and describe it either Good or Evil, you have eaten the fruit from the Tree of Good & Evil. And you have subjected yourself to the “Pull n Push”effect of these two forces fighting each other 24/7, swinging like pendulum and you may never know PEACE (Rest) there on.
