ETTAH EMMANUEL O. The wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Reverend Eyoanwan Bassey Otu was on Thursday, presented with an *Award of Excellence in recognition of her giant strides in development of health and wellness* by the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) at a prestigious occasion held at the NAF Conference Center in Abuja.

The wife of the Governor, represented by Dr. Inyang Asibong, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Gender Mainstreaming, received the distinguished honour in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the healthcare sector in the State. Presenting the Award, Prof Rosemary Ogu asserted that that the Wife of the Governor was honoured for her dedication to advancing healthcare in the State,

particularly through her support for initiatives and programs that prioritize women's and children's health, and reform of healthcare policies. Additionally, she has been a vocal advocate for gender equality, working tirelessly to create a more inclusive and equitable healthcare landscape.

The Medical Women Association of Nigeria, a professional organization for female medical doctors and health practitioners in Nigeria is an association that aims to promote the welfare and advancement of women in the medical profession, as well as contribute to the improvement of healthcare in Nigeria. The award presentation marked the maiden launch of the 2024 ‘Africa Women in Medicine, Health and Wellness Conference’,

a significant gathering of women aimed at strengthening networks and promoting collaboration for prompt diagnostics and improved healthcare outcomes.
