Review: For 33 years marriage was my life until, suddenly, it wasn't. Barely able to grasp the concept of being single again, I struggled for the first six months, barely leaving my home, crying at the littlest thing that reminded me of "us," and also about how significantly my life was changing, dragging me along against my will. I never wanted to be "that woman" -- that "divorced woman." I could barely utter the words. I thought about how I would now be checking the "divorced" box on everything requiriing my marital status. For two years I was unable to read anything with comprehension, robbing from me a joy I had spent a lifetime doing. Despite the words from friends and family who pledged that our relationships would never change, I realized on some level that, although they meant well, those long-term relationships were in jeopardy, because statistics were telling a different story. If you, like me, accumulated a dozen or more books written on divorce in an effort to try to understand what happened so you can move on, you might have learned, as did I, that no "field guide" to reconstruction with practical and immediate steps to resolve your worry existed. But now one does. This book does not spend much time trying to make sense of the past because, in reality, many divorces do not make sense, particularly one occurring after a long marriage. Post-Divorce Bliss is a survival guide that, while acknowledging the painful experience, immediately gets to the nitty-gritty of reconstruction and damage control. But most importantly, it walks you through all the stages of guilt, grief and anger, with steps and activities designed to thwart the lasting effects of those feelings by redirecting the power of those emotions to personal strength that will define the new "you." Title: Yes, yes, yes, buy this book! Absolutely divine!

Review: This is a book on how to have a good life. Jude really made lemonade out of the life she was dealt. And she teaches you how to do the same, step by step, and with exercises and challenges to help along the way.
Jude is very engaging and this book is part memoir, one part self-help. It is well written, a page turner and don’t blame me if you lose sleep because you don’t want to put it down! Jude makes the reader feel like she is a dear friend walking by her/his side, one who truly cares about making this process easier for others. One feels as if Jude is talking just to them. She is kind, witty, vulnerable and brilliant!
The book is warm and witty and fills one up in unexpected ways.
This is a thorough and well written little book that is life changing.
What do you do about Christmas and Valentine’s Day? Jude has great suggestions on everything from buying your own gifts to self-care and self-love and what to do about money issues after divorce. Post Divorce Bliss is literally free coaching in every chapter.

Title: This book strikes a universal chord with many women.

Review: Divorce is a sad reality, no matter who initiates it. Whether we opt for divorce or don’t have a choice, we still have to navigate in a new world that Jude describes so well.
I was on the other side in my divorce. I chose to leave my husband. But I still related closely to a number of the issues women face when they become single in a couples world. Much of Jude’s advice is practical: financial management, for example. But the emotional minefield of divorce varies woman to woman, and the author is honest about the pain she lived through. Readers will feel her empathy and be able to connect with her.
I was particularly inspired by Jude’s refusing to be a victim and taking charge of her own life so beautifully. The author shows us specific ways to create joy in our lives, from recreating new traditions to making new friends and discovering new interests.
Jude’s positive attitude is her biggest asset. This book is an encouraging manual for any woman going through divorce. A good read!

Review: I didn't know what to expect from this book, particularly since I'm happily married in a relationship I've been in for almost 22 years. I thought, "What do I need to read a book on post-divorce bliss" for?

But what I didn't understand is that prior to my current relationship, I had several long-term relationships which essentially ended in divorce, although since I'm gay, we couldn't get married at the time, so we couldn't legally get divorced, but breaking up the relationship felt very similar to the things Jude describes in her book.

I particularly liked the "hands-on" practice exercise and advice she gives freely, as well as her easy-to-read style and sharing her personal experiences, to know that she walks the walk and talks the talk.

This book is essential reading for anyone who's gone through a divorce, particularly a nasty one.

Title: A Practical Guide to Divorce Recovery

Review: I confess that when I read the title of this book, it sounded a bit over the top. But as I got into it, I found it to be full of practical, uplifting advice for the newly divorced, and with even the possibility of achieving bliss.
I know Jude Walsh’s advice is sound because I’ve also been successful in divorce recovery and intuitively took many of the actions she suggests in this book. She’s been where you are now: She’s survived and thrived and is eager to help you do the same. She’s the girlfriend who knows what you’re going through. She’s the wise counselor who can help you create a good life when you find yourself hurting and on your own. Her attitude of optimism is infectious. She writes: “You can move from feeling you have to start over to rejoicing that you get to start over.” With examples from her own life and that of her clients, and to-do lists at the end of each chapter, she shows you recover and thrive.
