Review: The premise behind this book intrigued me, and I was hoping it would be good. Mrs. Gaffney did not disappoint! There were typos in the book, but I’m not going to rate this based on those because the storyline, and her style of writing deserve 5 stars. I loved the characters in the story, Michael and Sydney especially. I didn’t care for the dark tour of the city that the elder brother took Michael on. It left me feeling dirty although that was the point of it to help us see it through Michael’s eyes. The author did a brilliant job conveying how someone who had grown up in the wilderness alone with the animals might experience an introduction into society. The romance between Michael and Sydney was perfect. There was enough romance to be satisfying without distracting from the actual story. I’ll definitely be reading more of her books!

Review: I was skeptical about this book, but intrigued and amused by the premise. I guess I was expecting a bodice-ripper with a chest-beating alpha caveman of a hero, but I couldn't have been more wrong! This is quite a sweet, slow-burning romance. Almost too slow, but I found it appropriate for this particular plot and its lead characters. Our heroine Sydney is relatable and good-hearted, and I liked that she was mostly a proper lady for the period, not the cliché rebellious, hair-tossing, feisty hoyden. Michael is one of the most engaging heroes I've read in a while - he's contemplative and principled, intense but sensitive, innocent but masculine, and passionate without being aggressive.

I will say that while I'm glad he wasn't grunting and trying to drag Sydney off by her hair, I would've enjoyed a little more "wildness" from him after he's first discovered. He reverts very quickly to being "civilized" in both his manner, speech, and dress, which is not only less interesting but I found hard to believe for a man who's been lost in the wilderness since he was six.

I also thought the ending was a bit too perfect with the miraculous deus ex machina and everything tied up with a pretty bow. I'm all about my happily ever afters, but it felt a bit trite and unoriginal.

I did enjoy all the secondary characters. They all had depth and were used just the right amount. I usually hate child characters, finding them either saccharine or annoyingly precocious, but Sam is darling.

Review: I love the book Sweet Everlasting by this same author. I thought I would try another title and was not disappointed. The plot is sweet, interesting and enjoyable. Patricia Gaffney has a lovely way of developing her characters over the course of the book. I would recommend.

Review: I loved this book, it took me to a place where only a good author can take a reader. I was truly satisfied reading this story, it was lively, sweet and just a little bit wild. I fell in love with Michael but he seemed almost too fragile for the world he was thrust into. It would have been amazing if he had not turned out to be some baron or nobleman, just a regular man who was lost as a child, but this is a historical and some title-dropping has to happen I suppose. I adored Sydney's character, she was lovely if a little too easy to influence but she did show backbone when she took Michael to hide him in plain sight. Sydney is also perhaps the worst fictional letter-writing character I have ever come across, so much so, that the last letter she writes to Cam was hilariously terrible. All in all, a great love story with a lovely sense of humour and more importantly for me, a unique story. It takes a truly gifted author to make such a story into a romance and I am glad my ammy buddy introduced me to this author with this book.

Review: Can you imagine what would happen if you were a child and civilization was lost to you? No one to take care of you. Teach you. Love you. WILD AT HEART is the story of a young boy who lost his parents. Add to his confusion and grief the fact that he now lives in a unknown land and comes upon both unsavory and well-meaning characters in the form of humans and animals. And for years, this is his life.

Time continues on until one day he is caught. Believed to be 'the lost man' he is poked and prodded, caged and confined all for the sake of a well-meaning society. Until one day he sees Sydney, the daughter of an anthropologist. He doesn't know what to make of her. She is different from all the men that have surrounded him. He has lost the ability to communicate until......you'll have to read the story.

Sometimes I'm just in the market for a good, solid comfort read. This is the gradual development of a special relationship. Friendship is earned. Trust is realized. Their story has some rough points but the book has a tender happy ending that I can believe in.
