Title: A good overview of what it takes to use Blender for arch-viz

Review: The book gives you a very good and quick introduction to what it takes to use Blender for 3D architectural visualization. The book has an intentional, well thought-out structure. It covers the most basic tools and workflows often used in, yet specific to arch-viz – like modeling precisely, managing assets etc. – in a logical way. It not only gives you a brief explanation of most common tools, but also suggests best practices based on the author's experience. In this regards, the book truly fills the gap for arch-viz artists looking to leverage the potential of this great open source software.

The book may also be very useful for people migrating from other 3D software like 3ds Max or Cinema 4D to Blender (just like I do), as reading the book truly gives you a good overall impression how projects can be executed within the software from start to finish.

The book's brief, 'sketchy' character isn't beneficial in all topics though. The section on materials is way too basic and 'tutorial-like', without giving even slight explanation to core concepts. It'd have also been nice to read about instancing options, and precise/real-world size texturing, features fundamentally important in arch-viz, which were both out of scope in this book.

Apart from the professional content, the book would also benefit from a grammar proofreading. It has a lot of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes – without them it'd suggest an even more professional impression.

Otherwise, it's a great book I can highly recommend to all arch-viz artists interested in Blender, independently of their experience. I also have started reading the author's other 'generalist' book on Blender, which I hope may be a good support to this book's deficiencies.

Review: The book is what is supposed to be, a quick start that will put you in the good path. It has the right approach in terms of navigating the interface, since it explains everything through examples that you can follow step by step. If you have tried endless times to learn Blender on your own, and frustration has got to be overwhelming, this book will fill all the gaps. From there on, it's on you, don't expect the book to digest everything, it just sets the path for you to walk your way up into architectural modeling and rendering.
