Review: I'm in the minority, but I love omnibus editions of manga volumes. I'm not a serious collector of manga, but there are series that I enjoy reading. For me, the omnibus editions have a benefit of more story in a single book--handy if you are a fast reader and want to be able to continue the story smoothly. However, the omnibus editions--this one included--have a slightly lower print quality than the individual volumes. In this particular book, it's thankfully not enough to have a negative impact. The pages are clear and not significantly altered from their original versions. I only noticed that the paper wasn't as nice as other Cardcaptor Sakura volumes that I've handled.

The translation that this volume uses is fairly solid. It reminds me quite a bit of the translation used for the Kodansha bilingual editions. Kero-chan's accent is understandably difficult to render in English, but they did a fair job trying.

My favourite part of this edition was the full-colour insert pages. CLAMP drew some gorgeous illustrations for Cardcaptor Sakura, and having them in full colour on glossy paper is a wonderful touch. The inserts are a combination of artbook images and pictures used for the original manga volumes--such as the back covers of the dust jackets.

I'm looking forward to volume 2!

Review: I've been on a manga omnibus kick lately, starting with Fruits Basket, and now this. And I must say, Dark Horse knows how to treat it's manga!

Cardcaptor Sakura is a magical girl series written by the all-female team known as CLAMP, who, in my opinion, rates up there with the great manga artists like Rumiko Takahashi, Akira Toriyama, and Naoko Takeuchi. They had delved into the world of magical girl manga before with Magic Knight Rayearth, but never straight forward like in this series.

Sakura Kinomoto is an average fourth grader who just wants to hang with her best friend Tomoyo, and crush on her older brother Toya's best "friend" Yukito. Then one day, she finds a strange book in her father's library. She opens it, and awakens Cerberus (Kero-chan for short), the Guardian Beast of the Seal. He tells her that she has unleashed the powerful Clow Cards, and that the world will be thrown into utter chaos if she doesn't get them all back. Like all magical girls, Sakura has a magical item; a wand/staff, which changes shape in part 2 of the series after her powers increase. Also like most magical girls, she has a few love interests; Yukito, Toya's best friend who is later revealed to be his lover; and Syaoron, a fellow Cardcaptor who developes feelings for her in part 2.

Her best friend, Tomoyo, also has feelings for her, which Sakura doesn't return; this was made cleverly obvious by CLAMP when Tomoyo told her "I love you" accompanied by a beautiful flowery background, to which Sakura replied "I love you, too" with a blank background. Tomoyo excepts this, saying that Sakura's happiness is her happiness.

Wow, I better stop putting up spoilers! LOL Bottom line; if your a fan of the series or just a fan of CLAMP, buy these books! They are so worth it!

Review: When I first saw this available I was very excited and pleased to see it re-released to the public again. I first read this series when I was a little girl and I absolutely loved this series the moment I picked it up.

I would recommend this to anyone out there looking for a nice manga that anyone could read, and not worry about lewd subjects that you wouldn't want your child reading.

My copy of this is well bound and the ink and illustrations are just as gorgeous as ever. Please don't hesitate to give this a try, I have really enjoyed reading this over again, and I'm positive you will as well.

Title: Better than Tokyopop's

Review: These books are much better than the volumes from Tokyopop that I bought years ago. Not only is the quality so much better but the translation is better. I added in an image showing the size comparison with Tokyopop's volume 1 and the first volume omnibus. I will also include a comparison I took for the second volume and an even older copy of Tokyopop's release (this is from back when they were flipping all the images to make it more "western") So that people with the older copies can know how much better quality these are.

Review: For the longest time I'd wanted to buy all the of the CCS manga, so when the omnibuses came along it seemed like a good alternative to buying them individually. Good alternative? More like BEST DECISION EVER!! Between books there are several gorgeous full color pages. Worth every penny!
