Title: Great Series

Review: Contemporary Western set in a small Montana town. The stories feature four ranch family. The cowboy heroes are all battling demons. They share a strong friendship and a dedication to rescuing, rehabbing, and finding forever homes for abandoned and abused horse's. The women they fall in love with are all from various back grounds and have their own scar's and demons. Together they find peace, love and healing hearts, minds and souls. The stories all intertwine.

Summer's Desire
Holden O'Leary moved to Montana from Texas. He is a Veterinarian and has guardianship of his four younger brothers, 12-18. Summer Fitzgerald is a local girl, orphan, and is a suspected as an accomplice in the murder and robbery of her friend and boss at the local bar and grill. Desperate she takes the job as house keeper and nanny to the O'Leary brothers. Holden learns of her past, while some believe her innocent, a viscous and vocal minority, including the Sheriff, do not and harass her every chance they get. Holden and his brothers were badly burned by a woman in Texas, which colors their view of Summer. Holden is falling for her, but doubts of her innocence, and the women that almost destroyed his family in Texas threaten their fragile relationship. A fast paced, emotional story, with a little steam and some great secondary characters. Loved Holden and Summer.

Autumns' Hope
Autumn Lavin moves from her small town to Carlston to escape the gossip of her unwed pregnancy status to follow her dream of opening her own restaurant. Buying the Bar and Grill from Summer O'Leary she plans to open a Vegetarian restaurant and juice bar. Rancher Jonas Barnes, is scared army vet, who raises beef cattle and runs a hospice for neglected and abused horses. He is not happy about his favorite place to get a steak and a beer is going Vegetarian, not to mention loosing he contract to supply beef to the place Once he gets to know Autumn, he gets his friends Summer O'Leary and Stone McCoy who is part of the town council to put out support for her. Jonas is falling for Autumn, but with his scared body he offers nothing more than friendship. When she has a pregnancy scare the brings her to his ranch to recover. Attacks on the Horse Rescue. Strange behavior from her business partner Richard and their mutual Veterinarian friend Dee Ann, and of course pregnancy hormones, and Jonas's reluctance to step out of the friend zone, strain their relationship. A fast paced and emotional story, with a little steam. Loved Autumn and Jonas.

Winters Embrace
Stone McCoy has lived in Carlston for the last 10 years. He has a successful cattle ranch and help with the horse rescue and is raising her 4 year old daughter alone. Divorced for the last 2 years he has a chance to win back the love of his life, the women he let go, his high school sweet heart Winter James. With encouragement from Autumn Barnes, he arranges to be on a guided cruse to Alaska that Winter is leading. Winter James was devastated with Stone McCoy broke off the relationship 10 year ago. Her heart and trust shattered she puts all her energy into her job. She is blind sides with she finds Stone McCoy on her tour. While he tells her he wants a chance to win her back, he flirts with the spoiled socialite who can't keep her hands off him. Stone is frustrated with his lack of progress with Winter and when he leans that she has lost her job and is being shunned by her home town for her alleged improper behavior on the tour he offers her a job. Winter is out of options and almost out of savings. When she arrives at Stone's ranch she finds that he lied to her. His daughter thinks she is going to be her mommy. While Stone keeps telling her how much he loves her how he never stopped loving her, she just can't trust him or her feelings. To protect his young daughter Rachel, she agrees to marry him. Stone's hot and cold treatment, the lies and half truths from the past threaten to destroy her love and the fragile trust she has in him. A fast paced and emotional story. Winter and Stone were hard to like. I really wanted to knock their heads together, especially Stone's. I was happy for them in the end. I was only disappointed in that while Stone took care of his ex wife and is cousin he didn't take care of Mimi the socialite that cost Winter her job and her reputation. A nice second chance love story.

Springs Delight
The final story
Rancher Colt O'Malley and his younger brother Caleb are the heart and soul of the horse rescue. Caleb is friend to all and beloved, for his kind heart and gentle ways. A tragic accident in a snow storm took his life. Colt is drowning in grief. His close friends the O'Leary's and the Barns try to help. The McCoy's he holds responsible for Caleb's death. The only thing keeping him going is the horse rescue, Caleb's, joy. When Spring Reed shows up on the Ranch looking for Caleb, about a promised job, Colt wants to send her away. Her devastation at learning of his death and realizing that she was Caleb's friend and another of his recues she take her in. Spring grew up in foster care and Caleb saved her from an abusive boyfriend and offered her a chance at a new life. She can see the devastation Caleb's death has had on Colt and is determined to take care of her best friends brother. Slowly Colt and Spring heal each other. When the McCoy family come to pay their respects and the truth surrounding Caleb's decision comes out, Colt finds a little more peace in getting back people he called family. Spring and Colts budding relationship is threatened by her drug addict mother showing up in town, and creepy and threating gifts that can only be from her abusive ex. With the help of his ranch hands as well as the friends he calls brother's Stone, Jonas and Holden. Colt is able to end the threat to Spring and take a chance at having a family of his own. A fast paces and emotional story with a little steam. I loved Colt and Spring. Sad that Caleb didn't have a chance to find his soul mate. He was my favorite secondary character in all the stories. I was grateful that Sheriff Brown got what he deserved. A great ending to a great series.

Recommend to those who like Cowboys who are less than perfect, strong women who are also vulnerable. Small towns and chosen families.
If you like a clean story, the sex scenes are short and few and easily skipped over. This is a new author to me, and I will be checking out her other works.

Review: The first book with Summer was fairly well written. It was good although there were a few irritating things throughout. I was excited to read the rest. I was very let down. Although, how all these cowboys have so much money is beyond me. It was annoying that the brothers had the names Mathew, Mark, Luke and John and the oldest is Holden. I kept thinking there had to be a reason, but was never explained. She described all the boys looking like adults, even had Summer salivating over all of them with their shirts off. Then come to find out that the the younger ones were 12, 14 and 16 and 18. The youngest talked like an adult in all the books. No 12 year old talks like that.
The second book was nowhere near as good as the first one. Autumn was annoying and why did she never try to press charges for rape? Why is the sheriff so horrible and no one does anything about him? It is never really explained, except in the last book where it says it was a high school grudge. So apparently he takes this out on anyone he knows that even knows the people he doesn't like. No one sets the town meddler in her place either. Autumn opens a vegetarian restaurant in cattle territory in a small town and she's swamped every night? Not possible. And her boyfriend suddenly stops eating meat? Her restaurant is called Autumn's Harvest in this book, but by book 4, it's Autumn's Bounty? She is a pregnant mom alone with no money, but she can buy the restaurant, then be sick and be able to hire a full staff to run it. They try to make her partner the bad guy, but later just laugh off things he's done. Including stealing money. Irritating. Lots of grammar errors, typos, and formatting problems. The guys in all the books seem to carry around these girls everywhere. Jonas carries her up the stairs even though he can barely walk on his bum leg on his own. Too many inconsistencies throughout the series.
Book 3 really tanked. I couldn't keep track of the timeline. It was Christmas eve. The next chapter seemed like a couple of weeks had passed, but nope, it's still Christmas Eve. The dialogue was horrible. Didn't make sense. The whole story was scattered all over the place. Why would Stone book a trip to Alaska and bribe the regular travel guide to take off so Winter could be there? Why not just go see her? The whole trip was a fiasco. Why would you encourage your daughter to call her mom before they even met? She was told she'd have a job if she moved there, but then suddenly her whole purpose was to be a mom to this girl. Why did so many things happen that didn't make sense in this book? Never really explains how they get the bad guys, just wraps it up as all good. How did Stone have enough money to pay off his exwife for the child, and why did he when he could prove abandonment and get custody? The never explained why Stu, the father of the child backed off. In all these years, Stu never questioned Stone who was the father? They were cousins. This never came up in any conversation, but when the kid is 8, he decides he wants custody? Too frustrating.
Book 4 was just as bad. When these 4 girls met, not one of them even cracked a joke about their names being all 4 seasons? Why were Spring and Colt mad one minute and in love the next? Why did they kill off Caleb? That was horrible. And Colt is angry at his best friend for not coming to the funeral. He would have known he was out of town if they were good friends. No one communicates here. Again, the sheriff pops up in his miserable way and nothing is explained. Again the timelines are weird. Colt talks about how townspeople wanted to help after Caleb's death but he wouldn't let them. Sounds like it had been a while. But didn't Spring show up within a week? Then it suddenly says it had been months since his death, but Spring had only been there a couple of weeks. How did her ex find her? How did her mom find her? She had no friends where she had lived and left no forwarding address. She terrified of her ex, but stupidly leaves the house and wanders alone. Her boyfriend had been out there, yet she goes anyway. Then that storyline is dropped and never gone back to. He never shows up at the ranch. Later she disappears from the ranch, but Colt doesn't worry about it a bit, even though previously he had someone watching over her every minute. I guess he didn't care that day. Everything is tidied up by the last page, but doesn't really say what happened.
Very irritating and annoying. The writing in the 3rd book was especially stilted and bad. Too much describing with the sex. Leave something to the imagination. Also, it's a small town, but there seem to be dozens and dozens of abused horses. Does everyone in this town abuse their horses except the main characters? It got a little much.

Review: I was not impressed with this series. Most of the men were bumbling idiots. Stone was the most selfish, narcissistic cowboy, and he couldn't figure out why Winter wasn't falling at his feet. I did not like his character at all. Colt is the only male lead I actually liked. As for the women, Summer was okay. Autumn was constantly having pity parties for herself and was way too repetitive. Winter allowed Stone to walk all over her and kept forgiving him, even though his apologies weren't very sincere. I was glad when I got to Spring's story and she started to stand up for herself. Finally, a heroine I could respect. I don't know how this series is so highly rated, but I won't be reading any more.
