Review: Sometimes a hard to follow book, I'd personally recommend to use the for dummies books. Very easy to understand. But I needed this for class so I guess it was slightly useful

Review: This book explains stuff in a very understandable way. It's not really complicated, but good enough to cover all the java basics. However, in some parts it still looks confused. Good for those who has a little bit of java experience so that you can get used to tech terms.

Review: The programming problems assigned at the end of each chapter are definitely great for beginners who have had some previous exposure to programming. However, if you are completely new to Java and programming all together you will be lost when it comes to tackling the actual programming assignments. This book definitely requires a companion manual for newcomers as it does a poor job explaining all the concepts required to learn Java (let alone giving you good basics on how to write code.) I found myself re-reading chapters several times over again and was still not any closer to having the ability to even begin one of their programming problems (aside from "Hello World".)
