On this important day of Children's day, I join my principal and mentor His Excellency Sen Prince Bassey Otu, his dear wife Rev. (Mrs) Eyoanwan Otu and all cross riverians to celebrate our children.

Children are precious gifts from God, there are young and beautiful creatures with their innocent smiles and carefree spirits that melt hearts.

Children are the future of the nation and needs to be groomed with the utmost care and protected by everyone, irrespective of family background.

Children's day is one of those important days where we appreciate and celebrate the leaders of tomorrow, it's a day to appreciate the dreams of our dear children.

The theme for this year’s World Children’s Day is ‘FOR EVERY CHILD, EVERY RIGHT’. This theme is apt, especially when you look at how the rights of children in this country seem to be trampled even in homes, where they are supposed to be safe and protected.

We all must work towards leaving a peaceful and united Nigeria for our children, He Said.

Parents and the society are given the noblest of responsibility in life, which is raising and training children who will in turn take up leadership of the society we all belong to.

The future of our family, society, and nation depends on the quality of life and values we instill in the younger generation.

So I call on every parent and guardian to take necessary steps in giving the best childhood memories to the kids, because memories are treasures that last forever. Let's come together and build a state where all our children's rights will be protected and where they can live their dreams, He further stated.
