Review: Ok so, I was really excited about ordering this book. I’ve been wanting to go plant based for months now but I wasn’t satisfied with the type of recipes/books I I was finding to match my tastebuds. So I saw Ella on the Netflix episode an decided to give her products a try. Her store bought merchandise are divine. However, I find that this book is as both exciting and frustrating at the same time. I cook regularly about 4-5x a week and all of my meals are from scratch. So, I thought this would be easier for me to execute and it would be fun. I’ve tried about 8 recipes within the two weeks or me having the book and I would say i probably only really loved the taste of 1 or 2 recipes. It’s so disappointing to me because I had researched so much of her products, reviews, her lifestyle and history with food and I was so excited to start the this new lifestyle feeling really prepared. I just didn’t like the way certain ingredients in the recipes were paired and some of the textures as well. I’m going to try this for another two weeks but I may need to go with another of her books or another chef altogether. Just be sure to really research the ingredients and do taste experiments prior to buying. I started off with one recipe, then another and so on. I’m the type of person who’s usually able to get in the kitchen and cook anything (pictures attached, the pancakes are from this book) so this was frustrating for me.

Review: 1) Feels like the author was not verifying quantities and proportions of ingredients - baking and pancake variations turn out really dry or the dough/batter is not even close to the texture described (e.g. the recipe says “runny” but it’s actually super thick and dry) - maybe she was just recalling approximately what she made and writing it down. Needs lots of experimenting with each recipe to change it make it right which is super annoying. 2) no mention of how much the recipe yields - prepare for really large portions or divide everything in half for normal portions for the family of 3; 3) it’s translated so the measures were changed from metric volumes (maybe that’s why they’re so off) and often times don’t make sense like tahini is measured in cups (who scoops tahini from a jar with a cup?) or “13.5oz of flour” instead of 2 cups

Review: It does take some stocking up on ingredients to make these recipes, but it’s totally worth it. The easy red lentil dahl is my favorite so far. I like the turmeric latte so much too—who knew?The curries are fabulous. I prefer the Sri Lankan curry which isn’t in this particular book. So far everything I’ve made I cooked again the following week—it was that good. I substitute almond milk because I can’t do oats. Also, my husband likes what I’ve made too, and he usually prefers food with meat. It’s just that these dishes are really that good.

Review: This could be my favorite cookbook of all time! I first heard about Ella on the Zac Efron Netflix show Down to Earth. I’m not vegan or vegetarian but am trying to add more of those options into my daily life. This book is beautiful, I can’t wait to make this food. I really like how the book is broken up by how long the dish takes to prepare also. I ordered two and am giving one as a gift, I might buy more because I know a few other folks who will love this!

Review: I was doubtful to purchase this book as you can get so many of Ella's recipes online via YouTube or the newsletter. I also have the previous book, so I figured how many more recipes can the girl have....but my roommate wanted it, so I hit that button and we got started cooking with an unlikely sounding zucchini and tumeric dinner pancake that was surprisingly delicious. I have probably cooked about two-thirds of the book since and everything is very tasty with a lot of attention paid to "up" the protein content in the meals. I cook many more recipes repeatedly from this book than from The Plant-Based Cookbook. Quick and Tasty.

Review: I love cookbooks and this one is a joy. My daughter was diagnosed with POTS - similar to Ella- so I decided to give Ella's cookbooks a try. We have really enjoyed most recipes. I haven't been able to master the gluten free baking, like the quinoa bread, but there are so many recipes that we really enjoy. I am slowly adding to my Deliciously Ella cookbook collection.To satisfy the non-vegan members of the family, it is easy to toss in some rotisserie chicken and then everyone is satisfied!

Review: I’ve had the book for 2 weeks and tried around 9 of the recipes. So far everything has been extremely tasty and it’s been great to get out of the rut of cooking the same meals over again. My major criticism is that the instructions are not always clear. And all oven recipes only list the temperature for fan assisted ovens in °F which means I have to try to convert it myself which isn’t always leading to the best results. My copy also had a page where the spacing had indented a section of text randomly. Overall I would recommend this if you’re looking for vegan inspiration.
