WOMEN REPRESENTATION IN WORKFORCE

Pakistan has been facing numerous issues in terms of economy & certain social issues for a really long while now, but one of the major issues that has grasped a lot of attention in the recent days is the lack of women representation in the economy.

Pakistan’s number of out of school female children and male children have a very wide gap, which is evidence of female literacy rate suffering much more than average male literacy rate. Literacy rate plays a very important role in the female labor force participation rate in the future, which is not only hindered by a low female literacy rate but also by the hindrances women face after their marriage, such as responsibilities of homemaking, raising families, and other such responsibilities. Even when the labor force has enough women, the problem lies with the hindrances they have to face in the workforce, such as low wages, low representation in certain areas, lower opportunities than men, etc., which hinder their motivation to contribute to the economy.

Economy does not only thrive when its output thrives, it thrives when there are people to contribute and make a difference which is visible, which is only possible when there are policies and systems that promote equality in representation & opportunity.
