The Commissioner for Sport Development, Hon Agnes Atsu has expressed her delight to members of Super Eagles Supporters Club over their visit to the Ministry of Sports Development, she described the visit as important and critical, and assured the members of the supporters club of her commitment to their vision and missionas it is inline with her goal of advancing sports especially football.

She said the place of sports in human development cannot be over emphasized especially as it relates to engagement of young people, as opportunities for recreation, health and well-being, socialization, and networking among other huge benefits abounds in the field of sports.

She said this while welcoming members of the Supper eagles supporters club in her office.

The State Chairman Super Eagles Supporters Club, Mrs Catherine Edum, said that Super Eagles Supporters Club which was founded in the year 1954, was formally innuagurated in Cross River State, on May 11th 2009, through the effort of the State government .

Mrs Edum said the main purpose of their visit was to let the new commissioner know of their existence and willingness to collaborate with her on moving the game of football forward in the State.

She however frowned at the fact that the State football teams Pelican Stars and Rovers football Clubs where yet to get back to the premier divisions. She called on the Hon Commissioner to do all in her ability to get the teams back into the primership divisions.

Responding, the Hon Commissioner Hon Agness Atsu said she was poised to work very hard to restore the State back to it's glorious days in Sports and promised that getting the two football teams back into the primership will be a major concern for her, knowing that sports is a major pillar in the administration of his Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Otu.

The supper eagles supporters club congratulated the Commissioner for Sports Development Hon Agness Atsu on her well deserved appointment and decorated her as the Patron of the supper eagles supporters club in the State.

Present during the visit were the Director of Sports Me Agbor Moses Ita, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Sports Development, The Sports Development Consultant Dr MacFarlane Ejah, the Chairman Pelican Stars and chairman Rovers football Clubs, and other management statf of the Ministry of Sports Development and sports commission.
