Long, long ago, before the dawn of mankind, there were two worlds: the world of humans and the world of gods. The creator of the world had given the gods a particular dominion over the world of humans, and it was forbidden to visit the world of humans. Now, among the many gods and descendants of the gods who lived in the celestial world, there was the Great God. In his name, the star Hoko in Canis Major and Kio in Canis Minor are recorded. This god, Hikohohodemi no Mikoto, is also known as Yatsukamizuomitsunu. He was the last of the many siblings of the family of the Emperor, and he had a very mean elder brother named Susanoo no Mikoto. As an epitome of the dysfunctional families of the modern world, he was to come to rise against his elder brother in order to restore peace and prosperity to the world, thus setting off a chain of ordeals which altered not only the course of his life but the destiny of the entire world. Now, Hikohohodemi no Mikoto was not only very intelligent, but also very benevolent towards the humans and spent most of his life finding ways to help the humans of the subordinated world.
1.1. The Birth of a Prince
Queen Yashodara and King Suddhodana had a baby boy and they named him Siddhartha. They invited the brahmins to predict his future. The brahmins prophesied that the young prince might become a great king or a great saint. The king preferred the first prophecy. He wished that his son would become a great king. So he did not want his son to see any of the suffering in the world because he thought that a happy childhood would make his son a great king. So the king built three beautiful palaces for the prince. The palaces were built in such a way that in each palace the prince would never see old age, sickness or death. The prince grew up in great luxury. He was provided all the worldly pleasures. He was given the best clothes, he wore the finest jewels and the best food. He had servants who would sing him songs. He owned birds and animals. He also had a friend named Chanda, who grew up to be his charioteer and another friend named Kim who grew up to be his horse trainer. He thus spent his whole childhood and youth in these palaces. He was never allowed to even go near the boundaries of the palaces. He was kept so busy that his father would not even let him think about the outside world. He had three palaces for three different seasons. When he was 16, a girl named Gopa in the city made him realize about the outside world. After that, he decided that he should go and watch the city. On his trip, the prince saw four different things (on different days) which changed his life completely. He saw an old man, a sick man, a dead man, and a monk.
