THE STORYLINE
The Temple of War is a story about a young man named Jude. He was a middle class working in a good marketing company. He got a good contract and that gave him a step up in life but at a point, his luck seized. He consulted a Pastor, then he learnt that the deity that was worshipped in his hometown was the cause of his stagnation. The moment Jude heard this about the deity, he got annoyed without listening to the concluding part of the vision because he did not want to have anything with the oracle and he did not want the oracle to have anything to do with him either. He travelled home without a waste of time and destroyed the shrine of the deity which was situated around a big tree at the back of their house. An old man who was the eldest among the surviving persons in the family, was living in the same house, he came out to see the havoc Jude had caused. He told Jude the repercussion to what he had done but Jude ignored him and left the hometown at once after he had succeeded in demolishing the shrine.
Jude thought in his mind that he had won a battle but his problem now became double. He was fired from his workplace without a trace of any offence. He lost his first child to the cold hands of death along with their maid who went to pick the boy from school. Both of them were knocked down by a car while they were on bike. Only the bike man survived but with terrible injury. They were all taken to the hospital but the boy and the maid had given up the ghost. As if that was not enough, his wife developed a terrible high blood pressure of which people believed was as a result of the death of her son and the doctor had reported the situation as a serious one. Jude felt as if the whole world was against him. Then he returned to the Pastor the second time. The Pastor at first hesitated to speak with him having heard all what happened to Jude, he knew it was as a result of the judgement Jude received when he travelled home to challenge the wrath of the deity. But after many pleadings from distinguished members of the church present, the Pastor then told Jude the concluding part of the vision he was trying to communicate to him earlier. According to the Pastor, there is an elderly man in the hometown who was the oldest. He was the person the Pastor was referring to as the deity. The Pastor proceeded that the spirit that inhabited the shrine around the big tree at the back of the house has long time departed the moment his true worshiper died who was Jude's father because no one was ready to worship him in truth and loyalty but the old man was decieving people that the shrine is still effective. He was the one that caused the stagnancy of Jude and later caused all the predicament that befell him. He knew if Jude encountered a challenge, he would come home to ask questions from him alone and then he would use that opportunity to get Jude's attention as a son that will be catering for his welfare while he would be acting as his father which was the thing he has been wanted since the death of Jude's father. Jude decided not to have anything to do with anyone in the hometown because he believed his father was killed untimely by them.
The Pastor concluded that there are two solutions to the problem on ground. One is for Jude to fulfill the intention of the old man by becoming his child and catering for his wellbeing and the second is for Jude to go spiritual by fasting, praying and finally offer a monetary gift to the old man once.
Jude was so grieved realising the mistakes he had made by bringing the problem upon himself and his family. Even the people that were there who heard the Pastor also blamed Jude for his hasty judgment which was passed on the deity.
Now Jude decided to fast because it was the best way to overcome the war. Jude fasted and prayed in the church for seven days. After then, some members of the church contributed money for him for his wellbeing. He took part of the money to travell home and gift it to the old man. The old man then revealed to him all the secret he had wanted to know which was exactly what the Pastor had said. Jude braced himself up as a man so as not to speak against the old man. He left there in peace and returned home and discovered that all his problem was gone. His wife too is now feeling better. He visited the Pastor and also share testimony in church and appreciated members of the church for the supports he got from them. He lived a happy life with wife and their only surviving daughter. That's the end of the story.
Some notable lessons from the story:
- Do not be in haste to take decisions, listen to instructions from God
- Do not fight spiritual battle when you are not spiritually inclined
- Be a member of a church or religious group that will render help in time of need
- Adopting a child is not with force, do the needful.
