Regularly praying brings you closer to God and makes everything in your life better. It allows you to process your emotions, ask for forgiveness, and thank the Lord for all the blessings you receive.

So how can you keep praying despite your busy schedule? Here are some tips on how to communicate more often with God.

Write Your Prayers in a Journal

It’s common for many people to write out how they feel, what happened throughout the day, or what they want to achieve over the next few days. Since writing has become an effective communication tool, writing out your prayers is also a great idea.

Have a prayer journal that will allow you to praise the Lord, ask for forgiveness, and check in on your faith for a few minutes.

Pray With Another Person

“In the same way the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.” – Romans 8:26

Prayer is both personal and communal. It becomes more effective when we gether and talk to God with the same requests, gratitude, and apologies.

Consider meeting with a group of people who share your prayers. You can even start doing it with only one person, such as your parent, sibling, or friend.

Make Prayer Multi-Sensory

Some people get bored with praying because they associate it with merely thinking and staying still. But you don’t have to stop and keep quiet every time you communicate with God.

God made us creative like Him. We can express our faith through writing, singing, filmmaking, and other artistic endeavors. You can even doodle, make a podcast, or listen to Christian rock songs to express your spirituality!

Understand That Jesus Pays With Us

“Again, truly I tell you, if two of you on earth agree about any matter that you pray for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there among them” – Matthew 18:19-20

The idea that Jesus prays with people might motivate you to reconnect with your faith. Imagine praying in the temple, then Jesus suddenly kneels beside you. He blesses your prayers and assures you that your message reaches God the Father.

Pray Expectantly

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” – Matthew 7:7

Praying expectantly does not mean talking to God and expecting Him to grant our desires instantly. Instead, it means looking for answers and seeing how God works.

You might even feel excited when you pray expectantly because it makes us feel closer to God. We recognize His responses and trust His miracles even more.

Thank God

“And on that day you will say, “Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; make them remember that His name is exalted.” Praise the LORD in song, for He has done glorious things; let this be known throughout the earth.” – Isaiah 12:4-5

Thanking God also allows us to appreciate the blessings and achievements we are acquiring. It also allows us to praise God and put Him at the center of our life.

It’s also the most accessible form of prayer. Thanking makes a great conversation starter, even with other people!

Ask for Forgiveness

Asking for forgiveness can be challenging if you don’t know how to swallow your pride. But you have to believe in your heart that He will forgive you and make things right.

All you have to do is confess everything. No one else has to know your sins but Him. Tell God that you understand why what you did was wrong. Your sincerity will help you redeem yourself and be worthy of His forgiveness.

When Was the Last Time You Prayed?

Prayer is one of the most fundamental parts of being spiritual. If you’d like to start praying regularly, try opening the Bible and using the scripture in your prayer. God’s word is powerful, and He wants you to use it when communicating with Him.
