Not long ago, I came across an article that talked about the air pollution of our interiors… this one is more polluted than the exterior and we breathe it every day!
The air quality of our homes: the main causes
I admit that it was not a real discovery for me, but basically, the air we breathe daily in our house is more polluted than that outside. With the arrival of the little one, of course I wanted to scratch a little more.
How to improve the air in our interiors
So of course, it's a bit like drinking 2L of water a day, we can never tell you enough to ventilate your interior daily! Everyone knows this, but honestly not many people do it DAILY, especially in the winter!!!
Good after, airing also means bringing in pollution and external humidity, so depending on where you live...
Living in the south, it is true that we live with the windows wide open most of the time between April and October… but the rest of the time, it is rather windows closed, especially for the chilly person that I am! And I don't think I'm the only one!
In any case, even if we do not ventilate the windows wide open in winter, we have VMCs almost everywhere in the house and windows with ventilation that allows a minimum of renewing the air, all the same!
Also, to avoid problems of ventilation but also of pollution, it is also necessary to take care to maintain all the equipment, whether it is those which allow good ventilation (VMC, opening of windows, etc.) as those which heat (fireplaces, heaters , etc..)
Another thing to watch out for is the humidity level… we live in a new house, and we don't have this problem, quite the contrary… it is often below 35/40%… but if you are in an old house, this rate can quickly climb above 70%… (the ideal rate should be between 40 and 60).
If there is too much humidity, we tend to turn up the heating. Also, the warmer the air, the more moisture it can hold!
So how can we effectively renew and purify the air in our home, all year round?
I was interested in alternative solutions: I had heard of plants and their purifying properties… in fact, no scientific research supports this and from what I found, it would really take a triple indoor jungle to have any effect + carefully monitor the quality of the soil etc… In short, too random…
So I discovered quiet air purifiers!
Honestly, I didn't know. Well, yes, by name… but I had no idea what it was. At first I believed in a kind of little decorative object that was useless, a bit like essential oil diffusers… but in fact no, it has nothing to do with it!!! Visually, it's more like a small radiator, a block that contains filters that will stop (!) the pollutants in our interior.
