Your problems and their solutions

Question: Is it permissible to earn through advertising on the website? If not, what is the reason?

Answer: If the advertiser on the website:

1: Broadcast an ad with a picture of Jan Dar.

2: Or the ad contains music or music.

3: Or the advertisement is illegal.

4: Or advertising any illegal item.

5: Or he has to enter into an illegal contract.

So it is not permissible to earn money through this and in such a case, if any income is earned from these advertisements, it should be given as charity.

Generally, even if the ad served by the advertiser does not have these errors, the ad placed by Google will have these errors. According to our information, when creating a website on Google, there is an agreement that in a certain period of time, the subscribers and viewers of the website will reach a certain number, then the Google management will be authorized to run advertisements of different people on this website, and create a website. The user is bound to accept this agreement, except to pay regular fees to stop advertising and not to use the website on a commercial basis. Then the selection of these ads may vary depending on the user's search base or location or different people.

If the facts are the same, it is as if this agreement is agreed upon when creating a website, so it is not right to create a website on Google on a commercial basis, and when creating a website, Google management is allowed to run ads. They then run different ads based on the search base of different devices or locations or countries, for example: if they run an ad on the same video in Pakistan, they run a different type of ad on it in Western countries, and In Pakistan, if one person's device runs a separate ad, another person's device can run a different type of ad, which sometimes advertises haram and illegitimate things. Earning money is not legally allowed.

In addition, if income is intended through the website, then the lease agreement made with the administration in this regard is also not permissible due to non-fulfillment of Shariah requirements (for example: ignorance of wages). The details of this are that by creating a website and publishing advertisements on it, the following are the ways of earning:

(1) Earning through advertising: When someone opens a website on Google and puts content on it, the website opener gives permission to Google to run various types of ads on its channel, Google Ads. Revenue is split between the website and Google, with Google charging advertisers for each click people make.

(2) Google charges a subscription fee to customers who are Google, and when those people visit a website, Google pays a portion of that subscription fee to the website owner.

Now the order of each is mentioned in order:

1) Ad monetization is legally a contract between Google and the website owner. Google pays the website owner for the usage of his website (in case of ad serving).

This wage is not halal due to the following defects:

A) Google has the authority to run any kind of ads, they advertise all kinds of legitimate and illegal things, and often ads are based on images of living beings and ask the questioner of these ads. Wages are received, so this contract of wages will be invalid because of collaboration and the earnings will also not be halal.

b) Wages are unknown, because Google does not set a fixed wage, rather AdSense takes 68% of the money from the ad and gives 32% to the website owner. Google keeps it and Google's total wages are unknown. So 32 percent of it is also unknown. The remuneration for the use of the website should be related to time, that is, the remuneration will be received according to the length of time the ad is running on it, so even if the ads running on the website are all within the Shariah circle, then this is the case. According to Sharia, Ijara will be illegal and wages will not be halal.

2) Google charges the member a subscription fee (wages) for certain services (related to viewing ads and downloading) and when the member views a website, Google pays the website owner. . This money Google gives to the website owner is the fee for using the website. This wage is also not legally permissible due to the following reasons:

a) If the advertisement on the website contains pictures of living things, it will be prohibited because it is "Irat al-Ma'asi".

b) Even if the advertisement is in accordance with the Shariah circle, even then the wage will be illegal and forbidden due to anonymity, because the wage for the use of the website should be determined over time, whether it is the wage of such a time or a full month or year. has such a salary whereas in the above case according to our knowledge the salary of the website owner is not determined in this way.
