Compared to May 2015, the number of light passengers on Brussels Airlines went up by 4.2% in May via Cheap Brussels airlines flight tickets. The Seat Load Factor went up a little bit.
In May, 697,941 people took a Brussels Airlines flight to a place in Europe, Africa, or North America. That's 28,091 more than during the same time last year. 3.4% more people used the European network because of it. The airline had 3.8% more people on its flights to and from Africa. The number of people who chose to fly across the Atlantic rose by 25.4%. This amazing growth is mostly due to the new service to Toronto, which gives the airport more room and, as a result, more passengers.
After a drop in customers in March and April because of the attacks, Brussels Airlines is now seeing a small rise in customers. Demand for flights is up, but it's not back to where it was before March 22. This is mostly because of the increase in capacity and the long weekends in May, which made many Belgians want to travel abroad. Also, the number of people taking connecting flights through Brussels grew more than the number of people taking direct flights to or from Belgium.
Even though Brussels Airport is now fully operational again, the attacks still have a negative effect, and both business travel and tourism in Belgium are still hurt. So, Brussels Airlines supports projects like "Sprout to be Brussels" to improve our country's image and encourage more people to visit.
In May, 63% of the freight space was used. This is a drop of 12 percentage points that can be explained by the fact that more freight can be moved now that the Toronto route is open. The amount of freight on this new route is still in the beginning stages.
