The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?

When I was in high school, I was ridiculed because I was the type of student who was constantly in the good graces of professors, performing well in academics and excelling in extracurricular activities. My superb grades and numerous medals and accolades since childhood had made me arrogant. And now, almost three months after graduating from college, I'm still unemployed. I attempted to apply to every employment site I could find on the internet, but I was unsuccessful. Suddenly, one of my college mentors offered me a job, which I accepted. Now that I'm back at work, I'm enjoying it, and the people around me are so pleasant and caring.

Lessons Learned:

There are many instances in life when we face problems, setbacks, and failures that we are unprepared for because they happen unexpectedly and we don't have time to think things through and we are unprepared. It differs from person to person how they respond and deal with these situations.

As for me, I approach them with courage. I am not afraid of them. Many times they have broken me emotionally, but I have persevered; and after dealing with these challenges, I think about them, absorb them, and comprehend them. It takes a long time for me to recover from them, but I make it because that is what life is about: facing things boldly, with the presence of mind to cope with them, seeing the bright side in every scenario, and then putting it behind you and moving on in life.
