FIVE PSYCHOLOGICAL PHOBIAS YOU DIDN'T KNOW
1. Nomophobia
Nomophobia refers to a fear of not having mobile phone connectivity. It can cause panic or anxiety for the person experiencing it. It is still unclear if the disorder comes from an existing anxiety disorder or from a cell phone addiction.
Nomophobiahas been considered a symptom or syndrome of problematic digital media use in mental health, the definitions of which are not standardized.
2. Obesophobia
It is the fear of gaining weight. It is most prevalent in adolescent women, but men can have it too.
Obesophobia doesn’t have a clear cause. It’s likely due to several factors, including: weight stigma, perfectionism, anxiety disorders, or personal experiences.
3. Venustraphobia
This is the fear of beautiful women. It includes consciously keeping away from women or events you might see women; or feeling extreme anxiety or fright in situations where you see women.
Someone experiencing an irrational fear of beautiful women may also suffer from coitophobia (fear of sexual intercourse) and/or kolpophobia (fear of female genitals).
4. Eremophobia
Also known as autophobia, isolophobia, or monophobia, eremophobia is the fear of being isolated, lonely, or alone.
As a phobia, this fear isn't necessarily a realistic one. Though you may know that you are safe physically, you may still be afraid of strangers or intruders, being unloved, having an emergency and no help, or experiencing other unexpected events without assistance.
5. Gamophobia
It is the fear of commitment or marriage. People who have thus condition experience intense fear when faced with the reality or even sometimes just the thought of being in a committed relationship or marriage.
It can be caused by a mixture of genetic influences, family background, and past experiences. The condition can negatively affect a person's life and may lead to loneliness or isolation.
