Ilewo-orile was founded by Akinsale, a prince from Oyo. His younger brother (Ajiboye) founded Ibara-orile while each of their two sisters founded Iboro and Ilogun respectively. Iboro (Eyinni by name) was married and settled at Iboro but later turned to a river named (Olohun Odo) in Olohun village. There brothers and sisters were accompanied on their journey from Oyo by their mother, who later died at ILEWO-ORILE and was buried at Igbo-Oro.

Akole-Koto was the first that settled when they were coming. Prince Akinsale (Ilewo) and Prince Akinboyede (Ibara) we're farmers and great hunters. They were searching for water until they got to the area where the two villages are found today. Prince Akinsale asked his brother Prince Akinboyede to stay at the other side (Ibara) so that both of them can benefit from the river. That is where Ibara and Ilewo are today, Prince Akinsale (Ilewo) has a wife whose name was Agemo a poetry maker. Agemo's water pot could still be found at Igbo-Oro (Oro-grove). Prince Akinsale has four sons amely Akinro, Akinse, Alaye, and Akinjogun. They always followed their father to Oyo for the festival (Odun Oro). One of them went back to Oyo to bring the crown 👑 and became the king. In 1862, when there was Dehomey Inter-tribal war broke out, the people of Ishaga, Joga, Ilewo and ibara fled to Abeokuta for security and safety at "e de gbe wa " (please rescue us) in an area now known by these name in Abeokuta. Nothing bad must happen to Ilewo, Ibara because they helped us during the war said by Sodeke. At the end of the war, the people of Joga, Ishaga and Ibara returned to their villages respectively.
