Review: The story itself is amazing! It’s one of my favorite books.But I’m incredibly disappointed by the quality of this print, is quite terrible. It’s some what shaky and hurts my eyes to read. The cover of the book looks cheap and low quality as well (the quality of the picture) it is also mat and stiff. It doesn’t pick up much on camera thought.Also I expected that it would have similar quality like the older and original print/edition, that I got from the library, and it’s nowhere near its quality. In terms of font, and quality.Can’t believe I paid 17.99 $ for this quality.The print is unreadable in my opinion.⭕️The first picture is of this copy, and the second picture is of the original, older print/edition.

Review: Bought this book two days ago and finished it in one night (granted, I stayed up till 6am, but I'm a night owl and started it around 3). As my favorite genre is mideval with a twist, I've got to say this is quite an amazing read. It starts off slow, but like most other reviews, it hooks you without you ever knowing at what part it did so. Interesting characters that are believable, though I would have liked more insight and devolopment, but that's coming from someone who reads series instead of novels most of the time. I'd very much recommend this to readers who are familiar with "Dragon's Bait" by Vivian Vande Velde.SPOILER~Y STUFF::One thing that would have been fun - if not a little cheesy - would be the fact that Raven ended up being the 'treasure' they were all looking for. If he ended up being the king's bastard-born son. Don't get me wrong, I really did like how it ended (her courage through the trial and the growth of their relationship is perfect and heartwretching) but I wish there was just one more good thing that happened to these characters that went through so much. But I guess that the lesson of the book was less of a 'be careful who you judge' and more of a 'don't put up with toxic people' morale. But, that might just be my mindset for strong leads after reading "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series right before this.

Review: I read this for the first time when I was twelve. I sort of stumbled upon it at the bookstore, attracted more by the cover than anything else. The story is very lovely and gentle. It really touched me on a spiritual level, and it's a book I often find myself returning to. I don't want to spend a lot of time rehashing the plot, but I will say it's a story of struggle, ostracism, and the healing power of innocent love. I wish this book was available on kindle, as I have a degenerative eye disease that disables me from reading regular print books.To any parents who are concerned about the possible content of this story: there is a very brief, simple love scene and non-explicit mentions of sexual attraction between two characters. However, I will point out that, unlike many young adult books, it involves two people who are in love with each other and it plays an important role in the main character's struggle to allow herself to love physically.

Review: I really enjoyed this book, nearly as much as Wolf Woman. Marnie's character is independent and fierce in what she believes in, despite what everyone else thinks of her. This is shown more and more as she takes Raven under wing and teaches him the ways of kindness he's never known before. Even with the whole village against them and being wrongfully accused of witchcraft, Marnie continues to fight for what she thinks is right, for herself and for Raven.The ending is bittersweet. Things worked out, but not in ways she planned and not perfectly. It makes the story that much more real, and ended on a hopeful note despite the loose ends. Sherryl Jordan leaves a few things to the imagination.

Review: I have never really understood what separates a young adult book from a plain old adult book. Oh I know there's a certain difference in style of writing, words chosen based on the expected vocabulary of the target audience, but beyond that it's just plots. And who can guess what plot will appeal to who? Some of the books I treasured as a young adult remain favorites today because they're simply good books. But this novel, though marketed and sold for young adults, perhaps even written for them, is one I think can safely be said to appeal to older readers as well."The Raging Quiet" is a novel about outsiders. Marnie is a newlywed when her much older husband dies, leaving her alone and without resources in a hostile and enclosed village. The friends she manages to make are the local priest and the village madman-who Marnie discovers quickly, is not mad at all-only deaf and re-names Raven. But soon her "magical" abilities to communicate with Raven make the locals suspense, and have Marnie on trial for her life.I must say that when I first read this book when I was eleven, I was disturbed by some of the content. So the official warning to parents: this book includes not descriptions of but illusions to rape, sex and a rather descriptive scene of what would now be construed as torture. It's probably not fit for every kid to read. Another reason why I see it as a line crosser.I enjoyed this the first time I read it but liked it even better the second time. Adult or child this is a good book that's well written.Four stars.
